For Dogs who’ve started to Slow Down

She Used To Beat You To The Door.
She Can Again.

There is a reason dogs slow down in the same order, in the same places, at the same handful of moments. It is not the calendar, and it is not permanent.

The Real Reason She Is Slowing Down

You have probably noticed the signs.

The pause at the bottom of the stairs, where she looks up before she commits.

The couch she used to own every night, now something she stands beside.

The landing after she jumps down, heavier than it used to be.

The walk where you are setting the pace for the first time.

Getting up from a nap the way you would get up after sleeping badly.

Most dog parents put all of it down to age.
But age is not a mechanism. Something specific is happening inside that joint. It happens to almost every dog, and it has been happening for far longer than you have been noticing it.

We call it the friendly fire loop.

Most dog parents put all of it down to age.
But age is not a mechanism. Something specific is happening inside that joint. It happens to almost every dog, and it has been happening for far longer than you have been noticing it.

We call it the friendly fire loop.

Her Body Is Doing Two Things To That Joint At Once

Wherever you're
Starting From.

Cartilage is the smooth layer at the end of every bone she has. The single most important fact about it is that it carries no blood supply of its own. It cannot call for help and it cannot be flooded with resources. It lives on what the joint fluid brings in and what the body’s own upkeep crew does for it.

For most of her life, that arrangement holds. Then two things start happening at the same time.

One. The load never stops.

Every stair, every jump down off the couch, every hard turn after a squirrel, every pound she carries. All of it goes through that cartilage. That is normal and it is exactly what cartilage is built for. It is also wear, and wear accumulates. A bigger dog accumulates it faster. A heavier one faster still. A dog who ran hard for a decade arrives at eight years old with ten years already on the clock.

Two. The upkeep crew stops standing down.

When tissue wears, the body sends a crew to clear it away. In a younger dog that crew finishes the job and settles. In an older joint it stops settling. It stays switched on, and it starts clearing away cartilage that was still doing its job perfectly well.

Neither one alone would do this. Together they compound.
Cartilage thins, so the joint takes more of the shock directly. More shock means more worn tissue. More worn tissue means the crew stays on longer. Round it goes, and each turn is a little worse than the last.

That is why it arrives quietly and then seems to speed up. It is also why the losses come in the same order in almost every dog. The stairs go first, because stairs load the joint hardest. Then the couch. Then the greeting at the door, because by then standing up at all has a cost attached.

None of that is age. It is a loop, and loops can be interrupted.

Why The Chew In Your Cupboard Is Not Touching This

So We Built The Thing That Interrupts It

Hey, I am Christine. Cofounder of Jope.

Pepsi stopped meeting me at the door.

He paused at the bottom of the stairs.

The couch he claimed every night became something he'd stand and stare at.

I gave him everything I had been taught to give. Months went by. Nothing changed.

So I stopped guessing and read the research. More than 85 studies later I had one answer worth having. UC-II®, a patented collagen that works on the second half of the loop, the part where the upkeep crew will not stand down.

A few weeks later he met me at the door again.

I called Jérémy from vet school and we built the supplement we should have been recommending all along.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Three Ingredients For The Whole Joint. Nothing Else Earned A Place.

UC-II® Collagen

The part that interrupts the loop. It works with the body’s upkeep response rather than around it, so the crew stands down and stops clearing cartilage that is still good.

Outperformed glucosamine head to head in a 120-day double-blind trial.

Teaches the immune system to stop attacking healthy cartilage.
Omega-3 (EPA + DHA)

98mg per chew, several times what most joint chews carry.

Supports healthy fat balance in cell membranes.

Concentrated Curcumin

50mg of standardized extract, many times more potent than raw turmeric powder. The fast-acting piece, working from the first days.

Jope uses 50mg of concentrated curcumin — 33x more potent than raw turmeric powder.

One soft chew a day.

Why The Chew In Your Cupboard Is Not Touching This

Go and look at the back of the bag you are already giving her. The active ingredient is almost certainly glucosamine, most likely with chondroitin and MSM alongside it.

Here is what those do. They supply the raw material cartilage is built from. Building blocks. Bricks.

Now put that against what is actually happening in the joint.

Picture a house on fire. Glucosamine pulls up outside and starts delivering bricks. Good bricks, exactly the right bricks, delivered on time. But nothing about a brick delivery addresses the reason the house is burning, and while the truck is unloading, the fire is still going.

That is the whole problem in one image. Glucosamine works on supply. Your dog has a loop problem. Supplying more material to a joint that is losing material faster than it can use it is not a strategy, it is a treadmill.

In 2023 glucosamine was finally tested properly. It performed the same as a sugar pill.

Which is why the months went by and nothing changed. It was never going to.

What we left out

Glucosamine

Chondroitin

MSM

We could have added all three. They are cheap, they are familiar, and every dog parent recognises the names on a label. The research said they do not do the job. We refused to put our names on ingredients that do not work.

Try the formula that works on the loop

She Will Almost Certainly Just Eat It

No pills to bury in peanut butter.

No powder to stir through dinner and hope she does not notice.

No tablet that turns up on the floor an hour later.

No arguing with her twice a day for three months.

Jope is a cold-pressed soft chew. Most dogs take it the way they take a treat, which is the entire point. A supplement she refuses is a supplement that does nothing.

And if yours is the rare exception, that is what the guarantee is for.

If This Were Age, None Of The Following Would Be Possible

Age only runs one direction. These dogs went the other way, and most were older turning around than they were when they started slowing down.

This Could Be Your Dog

Age only runs one direction. These dogs went the other way, and most were older turning around than they were when they started slowing down.

Beating you to the door again, before you have your key out.

Taking the stairs without stopping to think about it first.

On the couch at night because she got there herself.

Getting up from a nap without the long pause where she gathers herself.

No more lifting her into the car.

No more wondering whether this is just how it is now.

She will not know anything has changed. She will just start doing things again.

What The First Three Months Usually Look Like

Interrupting a loop takes as long as it takes. Anything promising an overnight change is not describing a real mechanism.

The first fortnight

Usually nothing you can point to. Curcumin is working early. Some dog parents notice slightly less hesitation before she gets up in the morning. Most notice nothing at all, and that is normal.

Around the first month

The first thing you can actually see, and it is almost always the morning. She gets up and the pause is shorter.

Between the second and third month

The moments come back in the reverse order they left. The couch before the stairs. The stairs before the door.

Most parents notice a rhythm like this:

The first fortnight

Curcumin acts fast on free radicals and UC-II® starts calming the cycle

You might see early signs like less morning hesitation

Around the first month

• Omega-3s and Curcumin begin supporting normal joint function.

Visible mobility improvements: easier morning movement and more willingness on walks.

Between the second and third month

Peak limb strength improvement reached.

They are jumping on the sofa, chasing squirrels, and initiating play again.

My Beau has seen very good improvement with Jope

My Beau has seen very good improvement with Jope. My only regret is that I didn't discover Jope earlier. His movement and ease of movement are as much a relief to me as I'm sure it is to him. I had my doubts but Jope, thankfully, proved me wrong.

I am delighted

I am delighted, actually excited about the improvement that has made in the short time you turn on Jope! When he was happy, he badly told her the crew here joint and all the associated ligament pendant attached to it on the right side. We opted not to do surgery in to go for more natural recovery because the surgery would’ve been so brutal he was only nine months old and he is a 74 pound American bull he was on a different supplement for a long time as well as Librela and stil receives monthly. In two weeks, he is gone for from cobbling out to our car and us having to lift him into the backseat to go to therapy pet training to lead into the backseat on his own. He seemed to get up and down better from a seated stand physician or vice versa. I can’t wait to see how you improve the next several weeks. He’s only 4 1/2 and we really are looking forward to visiting folks and cheering that he’s such a loving, loving boy thank you very much for this product and give us hope for our sweetheart.
